Handwriting Without Tears supports letter formation, while functional writing includes names, personal information, texting, email, forms, and AAC-based writing.

Understanding the world

Science and social studies are lived, not memorized.

Stories, experiments, observation, hands-on experiences, current events, and community outings help students understand people, places, systems, nature, and cause and effect. The goal is useful knowledge students can recognize and apply.
